Sound installation with performances at Kino Saito, March 8-May 19, 2025
Welcome to the "Between Worlds" sound installation at Kino Saito.
Shown here, the drifted bench, gong tree, red oak subwoofer, campfire, green lady, and the phoenix totem.- The "Campfire" greets visitors with five polished wooden "Skulls" grouped around an unusual speaker which plays back the winds of the Ghost Forest.
- The "Green Lady" combines elements of river drifted wood, steel plate, contact microphone to produce a playable instrument of unknowable dimensions.
- "The Torso" is a totemic sculpture with two sounding elements, a water drum, and a leaf speaker which beams a single cricket into the space.
- The "Shrine" is a wall of wooden parabolas facing inward with two Leaf Tweeters and a midrange drum. A storyteller tells a story of a young girl trapped between worlds.
- The leaf is the live vibrating elemt of a loudspeaker sitting in the focal point of a wooden parabola. It sends a beam of high frequencies.
- This "Cherub" made from river drifted bark, softens and diffuses the sound in the room.
