In 2008 at Tufts College, with David Guss, I made an installation that sound mapped the campus and its environs, called “Harmony in the Age of Noise”. This video was part of it, and shows how a long tube collecting audio and video is turning traffic noise into harmony. An overtone series builds up in the tube and generates harmony, much as if the street is playing a digeridu. The camera is in a black mirror tube which inverts the center image in a series of visual circles. It is based on the work of O+A, Bruce Odland and Sam Auinger.
